Sharing know-how and products with Madagascar
Avitech settled in Madagascar in 1993. Its initial annual production of 5,000 chicks reached the 3.5-million mark in 2010.
Based on the Mauritian model of La Maison du Petit Aviculteur, the Avishop outlets deal with the sale of chicks and animal
feed to local breeders. The company also supports Malagasy farmers through training and technical advice in poultry breeding.
The company has grown gradually with the set-up of franchised layer breeding farms, franchised broiler breeding farms, a
processing plant, a training centre and the distribution network. It favours the development of an integrated approach to
the poultry sector.
